The inauguration of the Musée des Confluences was one of the most significant cultural events of the end of 2014. The general public can now discover the ambitious project of this museum which presents the most recent research in several fields such as science and technology, archaeology or even ethnology. A long work has also been conducted on museography and the question of cultural mediation.

Beyond a geographical location that defines it, the Musée des Confluences is a philosophy of encounter, a taste for exchange, an intelligence of shared views. This dynamic project, backed by contemporary questions, issues and challenges, is unprecedented in the diverse universe of European museums today.

On more than 3,000 m2, the permanent route offers a reading of the human adventure through the presentation of more than 3,000 pieces from the collection. This journey tells the remarkable story of humanity in 4 distinct exhibitions which describe and present the question of the origins and destiny of humanity, the diversity of cultures and civilizations but also the place of Homo Sapiens in the chain of living. These 4 acts are:

Origins, the stories of the world
Species, the mesh of life
Societies, the theatre of men
Eternities, visions of the afterlife
