As a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the event, the Exhibition invites visitors to relive the emotion of Woodstock 69 through sensory and audiovisual immersion. It is an experience of immersion within the image, without any electronics, without any virtual reality headset.
In 2019, the Royal Saltworks celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock festival. A gigantic gathering of 500,000 people around popular and underground music of the moment. Woodstock marks the height of the hippie movement challenging all forms of violence. At the Royal Saltworks, the Woodstock Spirit exhibition, the Flower Power Garden Festival, and Woodstock Garden Side retraced the event.
The purpose of the «Woodstock Spirit 1969 – 2019» exhibition is to show both the universal and unique character of this event. The exhibition offers a poetic stroll through image and music and depicts the aspirations, expectations and desires of the spectators and artists in August 1969 on Bethel Hill in New York State.
The second part of the exhibition presents the historical context of this decade (JFK assassination, Chicago riots, May 68, first step on the moon …) and shines a light on the contemporary and timeless aspects of the Woodstock event.
